Animals younger than 90 days may travel without the vaccination under the conditions set out in the Portaria. Parasites: treatment with a broad-spectrum product against internal and external parasites within 15 days before the date the CVI is issued. The main point: a CVI in the Brazilian form

Brazil requires an International Veterinary Certificate (CVI) in the mandatory form of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA), which has applied since 6 September 2025. It is issued by the veterinary authority of the departure country. The certificate is valid for 60 days from the issue date, as long as the rabies vaccination is valid.

Rabies vaccination

Animals from 90 days of age must be vaccinated with an authorized vaccine within its validity period. After a primary vaccination you can travel 21 days later. Puppies and kittens younger than 90 days may be admitted without the vaccination under the conditions in the regulation.

Parasites and examination

  • Treatment with a broad-spectrum product against internal and external parasites: within 15 days before the CVI issue date.
  • Clinical exam by a vet: within 10 days before the CVI is issued.

Microchip

The identification method is set by the country of departure. If an electronic chip is used, it must comply with ISO 11784 and/or ISO 11785 and its location is stated in the CVI. We recommend chipping your pet in any case: it makes all the paperwork easier.

Titer test and quarantine

Brazil's regulation does not mention a titer test or quarantine. This applies to dogs and cats traveling as pets: rabbits, ferrets and other animals need a separate import authorization.

If something is wrong

Brazil may refuse an animal diagnosed with leishmaniasis. If the requirements are not met, the pet may be refused entry or sent back at the owner's expense, so check your documents in advance.

Leaving Turkey

We have not yet checked how the CVI is issued and endorsed in Turkey against an official source. Ask the Turkish veterinary service (Ministry of Agriculture) or a veterinary control point about the procedure.
